Family searching for an assisted living home in Arizona on a phone

How Assisted Living Homes in Arizona Get Found by Families Searching Online

By Mary Deanne Tabios, Done by Di. Phoenix, Arizona. Updated September 2026.

Assisted living homes in Arizona get found online through three things working together: a complete Google Business Profile, a website page written for the city the home serves, and reviews from real families. Most small homes have none of the three set up properly, which is why families never see them.

Short version

  • Families search on a phone, usually late at night, usually in a hurry.
  • They search by city, not by facility name.
  • A Google Business Profile with photos and hours beats a pretty website with neither.
  • Reviews decide who gets the call when two homes look the same.
  • One page per city you serve does more than one page about your whole company.

Why families cannot find your assisted living home

A family looking for care is not browsing. Something has happened. A parent fell, or came out of hospital, and they need a place this week.

They pull out a phone and type something like assisted living near me, or group home in Mesa. Then they look at what comes back. They call two or three places and they stop.

If your home does not appear in those first results, you were never in the running. It has nothing to do with the quality of your care.

What families actually type into Google

The words matter. A family in crisis does not use industry language. Here is the difference between what homes write and what families search.

What homes put on their website What families type
Residential care facility Assisted living near me
Person centered care model Best care home in Chandler AZ
Memory care services Where to put a parent with dementia
Competitive rates How much does assisted living cost in Arizona

Write the page in the second column. That is the whole trick.

Fix your Google Business Profile first

For a local care home the profile matters more than the website. It is what shows on the map, and the map sits above everything else on a phone.

  1. Claim the profile if you have not. An unclaimed listing can be edited by strangers.
  2. Set the category to match what you are licensed as, not what sounds nicest.
  3. Add photos of the real house. Rooms, kitchen, yard. Stock photos read as fake.
  4. Put the full address and phone in the same format everywhere online.
  5. Answer the questions section yourself before someone else answers wrong.

Build one page per city you serve

A single page that says we serve the Phoenix metro area will not rank for any city in it. Google needs to see the city name in the title, the heading and the body of a page built for that city.

If you take residents from Mesa, Chandler and Gilbert, that is three pages. Each one names the city, mentions local landmarks and hospitals, and answers what a family in that city would ask.

Reviews are the tiebreaker

When two homes look equally good, the family calls the one with more reviews. Ask every family that has a good experience. Ask in person, then follow up with a link by text.

A handful of recent, specific reviews beats a pile of old ones. Recency counts.

Common questions

How long before a care home starts showing up in search?

Google Business Profile changes can show within days. Website pages usually take a few months to settle. Reviews build the whole time.

Do I need a big website?

No. A small site with one strong page per city beats a large site with vague pages.

Can I do this myself?

The Google Business Profile part, yes. The city pages take longer because each one has to be written, not copied.

What about AI search like ChatGPT?

AI tools pull from the same places: your profile, your site, and what others say about you. Getting those right covers both.
